Recovering from an operation or having to stay at the vets when your owner is not about can be an unsettling time for any pet. To help ensure the most comfortable and stress-free stay as possible for your pet, our patient wards at Horley offer an environment and care routine that promotes rest and recovery.
Contact us about in-patient care
The in-patient wards at Horley are regularly and meticulously cleaned, well-ventilated with climate-control, equipped with pheromone adapters and a system that plays relaxing sounds. In terms of the kennels themselves, cats are all kept off the ground and we can provide cat towers for extra privacy.
We also have a separate ward with dog kennels of varying sizes, which allows us to accommodate your pet in an environment that will make them most comfortable.
Your pet will be assigned a vet and a nurse for the duration of their stay and these dedicated staff will be backed up by our Veterinary Nursing Assistants (VNA) who regularly monitor each patient.
We encourage you to visit your pet and we’ll organise a mutually convenient time for this when we plan your pet’s stay. Finally, we’ll make sure that a nurse and/or vet is available to update you on how their procedure went and how your pet’s recovery is progressing.
At our Horley clinic, patients who have undergone surgical procedures will be monitored until they are ready to be discharged. Pets who need ongoing intensive care are transported to the East Grinstead surgery where we can provide intensive care in our fully equipped wards there. These have been designed to care for our ill and injured patients, alongside those recovering from anaesthetics. Facilities include climate control, intravenous fluid pumps and warmers, oxygen tents, and blood pressure, oxygen, and ECG monitors. The wards are staffed by qualified veterinary nurses, student nurses and veterinary nursing assistants, with a dedicated night nurse for patients who require overnight care at our East Grinstead hospital on weekdays.
It’s a combination of our comprehensive facilities and our team’s attention to detail that attracts clients to our Horley clinic from across Surrey and further afield, including places like Crawley Outwood, Newdigate & Pease Pottage. If you’re not a client and you’d like to see what we offer, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
