Part Time Veterinary Surgeon – Crawley

Portland Vets is looking for a part time vet to join the team.
Portland vets is one of the few remaining independent vet practices with sites in East Grinstead, Edenbridge, Horley, with our newest addition, Crawley due to open in September this year.
This position will be based at our new site in Crawley, West Sussex. The multistorey practice is spread across 4 floors with lift access, and boasts multiple consult rooms, separate waiting areas, two theatres, in house laboratory, DR radiography, ultrasonography, and CT scanner for all your diagnostic needs. We have separate wards for our feline, canine and exotics patients, and are one of the few practices in the UK that offer a tortoise hibernation facility.
This position is initially for two Saturday shifts per month, but plenty of opportunity as the practice grows for future weekday/weekend shifts if required.

Job Description
To medically and surgically assess and treat patients presented at Portland Vets premises in accordance with the standards and policies laid down by Portland Vets Ltd and the RCVS.
To generate revenue for Portland Vets.
Responsibilities of the job description
- To perform consultation and medical treatment of animals
- To undertake surgical procedures
- To participate and provide medical and surgical treatment of animals in emergency and out of hours service as required
- Maintain up to date and accurate clinical records
- Ensure all patients are accurately billed at the time of treatment and clients updated on costs
- Adhere to practice policies and protocols
- Adhere to practice health and safety policies
- Maintain a clean and tidy working area/consult room
- Provide guidance and support to staff with general client enquiries
- Assist with the clinical training of EMS students, new graduates, veterinary nurses and support staff as required
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public
- Undertake any other duties as directed from time to time by line manager/branch manager
- Undertake continuing professional development associated with the role, in accordance with RCVS guidelines

- Computer literate: Microsoft word, excel, email
