In a ground-breaking move for the UK’s veterinary industry, Lingfield Equine has officially transitioned into an employee-owned trust (EOT). This innovative approach empowers employees by giving them ownership and a say in the future of the practice and the story has recently been shared on www.Vetclick.com and in the Vet Times.
Leading the change is Director of Lingfield Equine and Portland Vets, George Christopherson. He has spearheaded this initiative with the vision of creating a more sustainable and rewarding work environment for the dedicated team at Lingfield Equine.
“This is a defining moment for Lingfield Equine and a significant step forward for employee ownership in the veterinary sector,” said George Christopherson. “By becoming an EOT, we ensure the long-term independence and well-being of our practice, while fostering a strong sense of ownership and accountability among our employees.”
Lingfield Equine’s transition to an EOT paves the way for further expansion under employee ownership, with plans to adopt this model at Portland Vets in the future. With practices in East Grinstead, Edenbridge and Horley, a further £3.5m has been invested to add a fourth brand new, purpose built surgery in Crawley. Boasting four storeys with a CT Scanner, two operating theatres and six consulting rooms, it is set to open in spring 2025. For more information click here
“We firmly believe that employee ownership is the future of veterinary care,” added George Christopherson. “We are committed to providing our employees with a sense of ownership and purpose, while ensuring the highest quality care for our equine patients. We will never consider selling out to a large corporation, as this would compromise our commitment to our employees and the animals we serve.”
