Receive dedicated care from Exotics Certificate holder Helen & the team at our Crawley branch
At Portland Vets, we believe every species no matter how small, scaly, feathered, or furry deserves exceptional veterinary care. That’s why our Crawley practice is home to a dedicated Exotics Service with a separate exotic ward, designed to provide contextualised care for a wide range of non traditional companion animals.
Our exotics team has undertaken extensive additional training in zoological and exotic animal medicine. This enables us to provide tailored, species appropriate care for many different exotic pets, including:
In these appointments, we can offer your pets a range of preventative healthcare services, with some of the more popular ones being:
We also offer non-routine appointments for if you believe your exotic pet could be unwell. Our practice is equipped to deal with most problems and diagnostics, including cases that become surgical or where a period of hospitalisation may be needed.
To book your exotic or small furry pet in with our team, please contact our reception team.
We are proud to offer our rabbit clients full access to our Pet Wellness Plans, a convenient and cost-effective way to look after your pet's preventative health care.
Portland Vets is one of the only veterinary practices in the area with a dedicated ‘hotel’ for hibernating tortoises. Many owners of pet tortoises find that they do not have an adequate space in their home where they can provide the correct temperature or conditions for a quality hibernation period. Not having these can be detrimental to their tortoise’s health. This is why we set up our ‘Tortoise Hibernation hotel. We recommend a pre-hibernation checkup so please contact our nursing team to arrange this.
The Tortoise Trust is a great resource for further information on tortoise care. Visit their website at tortoisetrust.org for helpful guides and information sheets.
