Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy treatment for removal of skin growths, warts, and other lesions using controlled freezing.

Cryotherapy for Pets

Cryotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment that uses extreme cold to destroy abnormal tissue. It is commonly used to remove skin growths, warts, and other benign lesions in pets without the need for traditional surgery.

What is Cryotherapy?

During cryotherapy, liquid nitrogen or nitrous oxide is applied to the affected area, freezing and destroying the abnormal cells. The treated tissue then falls off naturally over the following days to weeks, leaving healthy skin behind.

Conditions Treated with Cryotherapy

  • Skin tags and warts
  • Small benign tumours
  • Eyelid/Oral masses
  • Lick Granulomas
  • Perianal adenomas
  • Certain types of skin cancer

Benefits of Cryotherapy

  • Minimally Invasive - Often performed without general anaesthesia
  • Quick Procedure - Treatment takes only minutes
  • Minimal Discomfort - Well tolerated by most pets
  • No Sutures - No stitches required
  • Cost Effective - Less expensive than surgical removal

What to Expect

Your vet will assess the lesion to determine if cryotherapy is appropriate. The procedure is quick and most pets experience only mild discomfort. The treated area may appear red or swollen initially, and a scab will form before the tissue falls off naturally.
