Behaviour

Pet behaviour consultations and tailored advice from Emma at our Horley branch who is currently studying clinical canine behaviour

Is Your Pet's Behaviour a Concern? We Can Help.

At Portland Vets, we understand that your pet's behaviour plays a huge role in your life together. Whether it's limiting walks, affecting interactions at home, or causing issues with other animals or people, behavioural challenges can be stressful for everyone. That's why we're proud to have Vet Emma on our team, who has a special interest in pet behaviour.

Ready to get started?

Contact our reception team to book a behaviour consultation with our Vet Emma, who is based at our Horley practice. They'll just need your name, your pet's name, your phone number, and your email address. Emma will then send you a behaviour questionnaire to fill in prior to your pet's assessment, so we can ensure we provide the best possible support for your pet.

Meet Emma

Emma is currently studying to become a Clinical Canine Behaviourist but is also happy to see feline patients too. Learn more about her background and expertise on our Meet the Team page.

What to Expect

Based on the information you provide in the questionnaire, we'll recommend the best course of action for your pet:

  • Complex/High-Risk Cases: If the issue is complex or poses a high risk, we'll refer you to a certified clinical animal behaviourist.
  • Behavioural Advice: For many cases, Emma can provide tailored behavioural advice from our Horley practice.
  • Clinical Examination: Often, a clinical examination is necessary to rule out any underlying medical conditions that might be contributing to your pet's behaviour. This can be done at your usual practice or at Horley with Emma.
