Minimally invasive keyhole surgery for spaying female dogs and removing abominally retained testicles from male dogs.
Keyhole surgery is a minimally invasive alternative to traditional neutering surgery. Offering a safer, more comfortable alternative by using small incisions and a camera, we perform the procedure with significantly less trauma to your pet.
During a laparoscopic surgery, we make two small incisions in the abdomen. A camera (laparoscope) is inserted to provide a magnified view of the internal organs on a monitor. Specialised instruments are used to carefully remove the ovaries or testicles with precision and minimal handling of tissues.
Laparoscopic spays are suitable for most female dogs. The procedure is particularly beneficial for:
The dog will need to have seen their referring vet within the last 6 months. If the dog is below 5kg's a pre-operative assessment with our nursing team will be booked to ensure they are a suitable candidate. After surgery, most dogs go home the same day with minimal restrictions. The small incisions heal quickly, and most pets are back to their normal selves within a few days.
If you are an owner and wish to book in please inform your primary care vet, they can refer you or you can book in directly.
