Alex is our Veterinary Surgeon who graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2009 and has 16 years of experience in practice, joining the Portland family in 2019. She has a particular interest in internal medicine.
Alex has always wanted to be a vet, inspired by a childhood love of science, animals, and watching David Attenborough programmes. She particularly enjoys building long-term relationships with clients and being part of a pet’s journey from the early stages of life through to their later years.
Her approach to patient care focuses on gentle handling and keeping animals as comfortable as possible, often helped along with a bit of well-timed “bribery” (squeeze cheese is a firm favourite!).
Alex works closely with owners to make the best decisions for each individual pet and their circumstances.
Outside of work, Alex enjoys sewing, baking, and reading and spending time with much-loved family dog, Tobi.
