Welcome to our June edition of the newsletter. This month, we’re excited to continue the journey towards bringing Crawley’s only independent family-run veterinary practice to life. A short construction update and this month we share more about the family behind Portland Vets.
Building Progress:
The construction team have been working hard to make significant progress during these warmer months. After clearing the site, the carpark tarmac was laid to help with access and moving machinery around. The next step has been one of the biggest jobs in the build, excavating the ground so that the team could start building our large basement.
To find out what it will be used for read to the end of this update.
Our Story: Growing with You
Portland Vets became a reality in 2002, a vision shared by George and Jenny Christopherson to create a family-run veterinary practice in East Grinstead. It started in 2004 with a single practice on Portland Road. Jenny, the sole vet for the first 20 months, worked alongside George, and they even lived above the surgery until 2006! Head nurse, Sarah Pearce VN, joined the team that very first year – and is still part of the Portland Vets family today!
As our practice grew, so did our team. The East Grinstead location expanded organically over the years to accommodate the increasing number of pet owners who entrusted us with their companions care.
In 2013, we opened a practice in Edenbridge, allowing us to serve a wider range of pet owners. Five years later, in 2018, we established a practice in Horley, further solidifying our commitment to making independent veterinary care accessible for everyone.
Practice feature spotlight:
Each month we will highlight one of the many exciting aspects of your new Crawley practice. As you can see our basement area will be huge. It will house our exotics ward and tortoise hibernation hotel, which has been fully booked every year since launching at our East Grinstead branch!
Out of Hours Update :
Our Pet Owner Forum to discuss the possibility of running a not-for-profit out of hours emergency will go ahead on the evening of Thursday 8th August. This will be hosted virtually due to the large number of pet owners who wish to attend. If you’ve not registered you still can Register Here
